Royal Enfield recently launched the Bullet 500 in India. It has the basic Bullet styling with a 500cc UCE engine from the classic 500 minus the fuel injection. While many claim that it is a move made to bring the price down, however the price id down just by INR 10,000 so what i fell is this move is made more to give a choice to customer as many RE fans have reported that they are not too fond of the EFi system keeping the classic image of the bike. Some have also complained about the Keihin Electronic Fuel Injection, which they feel is unreliable.
The carbureted version of the 500 makes 26.5 Ps(26.1 bhp)@5100 rpm which is lower power output but at a slightly lower rpm also than Classic 500 which makes 27.6 Ps(27.2bhp)@5250 rpm. And the torque output of the carbureted version is 40.9 Nm@3800 rpm which again lower output at a lower rpm than the Classic 500 which delivers 41.3 Nm@4000 rpm. These figures though are lower than the 500 Classic but the difference is marginal.
The Special Features of the Bullet 500 are:
·
* Front 19 inch wheel with MRF Zapper Tyre ( Larger wheel than 500 Classic but with better tyres than Std Bullet 350)
· *The headlamp is traditional but with a powerful 60/55 Watt Halogen bulb to provide better Illumination. ( The Std Bullet 350 has 35/35 watt)
· * One Touch Electric Starter. ( Std Bullet lacks Electric starter)
· * The legendary Royal Enfield Winged badge now in special silver and gold dual tone livery significant of the legendary iconic aura of this marquee.
· * A brand new Forest Green Colour. ( The only colour Bullet 500 is available in currently)
· * The Long traditional single piece twin seat contoured to suit rider posture and comfort as well as pillion comfort on long rides.
· * An Aesthetically designed new Pillion Grab-rail with a cushion end. (This feature is actually new)
· * Vintage tail lamp assembly features a classic design. (Picked up straight from the RE Classic series)
The exact price of the bike will be announced in the coming days. Some other minor details are that the rear wheel is an 18 inch with 120mm MRF Zappers and it weighs 3kgs more than the Classic 500 at 193Kgs. Other Specs remain almost similar to Classic 500. The Styling of the Bullet 500 is similar to the Standard Bullet 350 which has its own fan following among the Bulleters. While you are reading this other’s are already at the showrooms to book it.
